Mateo Zapata, is a photojournalist and community advocate of Colombian & Chilean descent raised on Chicago’s south side. As a creative at the intersection of the arts, photojournalism, and community advocacy his work is dedicated to documenting inner city narratives. His experience in multimedia production ranges from working on documentaries, producing public service announcements and helping highlight positive narratives in Black & Brown communities. His most recent work has been based on documenting incarcerated men working towards rehabilitation, self-transformation and liberation at Stateville Federal Correctional Center.
